Scope of Practice
Our regulated members provide evaluations of adult (18+) hearing ability, collecting test data to identify type and degree of any hearing loss present with possible referral for further medical investigation.
A CHAPA member will prescribe and fit (non-surgical) hearing aids, cros or bi-cros products appropriate for the hearing loss. Assistive listening devices may also be recommended.
Verification and Validation tests will conclude the fitting. Counselling patients and their family members or care givers on expectations and how to derive the full benefit of their products will be provided.
Your provider may utilize other referral sources such as deaf and hard of hearing services to assist and enhance communication and lifestyle needs.
